Join us for an inspiring evening as the Centre Against Violence welcomes former world No. 4 tennis champion and best-selling author, and now the subject of an award winning, Number One documentary, Jelena Dokic, to Wangaratta. More than just a champion on the court, Jelena's story is a powerful example of resilience, courage, and survival. From her astonishing rise in the world of tennis to the silent suffering she endured at home—abused for over 15 years while the world watched—Jelena's experience is a profound reminder of the consequences of bystanding.
The event will begin with highlights from the Centre Against Violence's work over the past year, showcasing key moments that reflect the positive impact of collective action and community support. Following this, Jelena will take the stage to share her powerful story of survival, recovery, and the strength it takes to reclaim one's life. Her journey is a reminder that silence enables suffering, and we must be more than bystanders. We must be curious, ask questions, and reach out when something doesn’t seem right.
The evening will conclude with a book signing, offering a chance to meet Jelena and reflect on the importance of standing together against violence and providing support to those who need it most.
We invite you to join us for this significant community event—because standing up and reaching out can change lives.
