Wellington Heads @ Musicians Club Night
Friday 5 September, 7pm
Hard working capital city band Wellington Heads perform at the Whanganui Musicians Club Night on Friday 5 September. They’ll be playing their blend of original jump blues and swing, 40s / 50`s rhythm & blues styles and including Hawaiian sounds, Caribbean beats, and funky New Orleans grooves. The repertoire includes songs from their new album ‘World Keep On Turning’ as well as a bunch of tunes from their extensive back catalogue. And they throw in some popular tunes that everyone knows.
Named after the striking features on Wellington’s rugged southern coastline, the band has been playing in and around the capital city, and all around the country for some twenty years. They love putting their original take on a range of styles, and with six recorded albums under their belt, this outfit plays together. They just enjoy having fun with their audiences.
Their regular six piece line up is: Neil Worboys – vocals, guitar, harmonica, Bill Wood – guitars, Geoff Keith – bass, Nic Deighton – drums, Phil Costello – saxophone, Andy Weir – trumpet.
The boys are no strangers to Whanganui, having played here many times over the years. Come and hear them when they hit the stage at about 9 pm after two hours of the famous open mic. And who will put their name on the board to kick things off at 7pm? The hall can heat up pretty quickly on the first Friday of the month, so make sure you get there early. Spring is in the air, and the music keeps on coming. See you there!
