Join us for a fun and educational Try-It Event focused on Urban Locating and Lost Item Recovery! This interactive session is ideal for handlers and dogs of all experience levels who want to explore these engaging scent-based activities. You'll get an introduction to Urban Locating, and Lost Item Recovery, which challenges dogs to find misplaced personal items using scent discrimination. The session will cover foundational techniques, handling strategies, and basic rules in a relaxed, supportive setting. Please note, this is not a sanctioned NASDA event, but an informal practice designed to help you and your dog build confidence and skills. Whether you're new to scent sports or looking to sharpen your team's abilities, this event is a great way to strengthen your bond with your dog and tap into their natural talents. Be sure to bring high-value treats, a long line or tracking leash, and come prepared for an exciting, scent-filled day!
Event Details: This is a relaxed, come-and-go style event running from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, so feel free to arrive and participate at your own pace. Whether you want to stay for the full session or just drop in for a quick run, you're welcome to join us when it works best for you. A water spigot & cooling pools will be available for dogs, and drinking water will be provided for participants, so everyone stays hydrated while having fun!
Disclaimer: Please be aware that this practice event will take place on an active working farm. While all livestock will be securely contained and inaccessible during the event, it is essential for the safety of all participants—both human and animal—that all dogs remain leashed and under the control of their handler at all times. Handlers are responsible for managing their dogs' behavior throughout the event. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in removal from the practice session.
