UK Premiere: “The Inheritance” Brings Brazilian Theatre to the English Stage for the First Time
The Sinodun Players will present the UK and English-language premiere of The Inheritance, a new adaptation of A Partilha, a landmark work in Brazilian theatre by the acclaimed playwright Miguel Falabella.
The story of play focuses on four sisters who, after a long time apart, meet again at their mother’s funeral and then assess their lives, noting how things aren’t what they seem. Each followed different paths:
• Selma, the more conservative sister, is married to a military man and leads a disciplined life in Tijuca;
• Regina is liberated, esoteric, does not usually repress herself and has a "high spirits" view of life;
• Maria Lúcia abandoned a conventional marriage and her son to live a great love in Paris;
• Laura, the youngest, reveals herself to be a stern intellectual and surprises the sisters with her options.
During the meeting, they argue and fight, but at the same time, they reminisce about the good times past and discover new things about themselves.
• Performances: 16–20 September 2025, Warburton Studio, Corn Exchange Theatre,
Wallingford, Oxfordshire
