Celebrate Latinx heritage and artistic expression at CCPL’s Latinx Art Panel and Showcase! Join us for an afternoon featuring Maryland-based Latinx artists: Jainson Cedillo, Camila Leão, Catherine Rupan Mapp, and Aynex Mercado.

The program begins with a panel discussion where artists share how their culture and identity influence their work. Afterward, enjoy a showcase of their art, meet the artists, and learn more about their creative journeys.

Jainson Cedillo | Portraits | IG: @art_by_jainson
Jainson Cedillo is an Ecuadorian American artist, born in Queens, NY, raised for part of his life in Passaic, NJ, & currently based in Baltimore, Maryland. Jainson’s body of work weaves together his Hispanic heritage & queerness, blending expressive figures, vibrant colors, & personal narratives. Through his drawings, he explores these intersecting identities using bold symbolism, rich patterning, & emotional figuration. Camila Leão | Multimedia Art | IG: @camilaxleao
Camila Leão is a Baltimore-based multimedia artist working across illustration, murals, public art, & fine art. Also a musician, she infuses her art with the same raw spirit & dynamic movement that shape her sound, making music an essential force in her creative process. Her work explores community, empowerment, environmental awareness, & cultural identity, drawing from her Brazilian heritage & the interconnectedness of all living things. Catherine Rupan Mapp is a Baltimore-based muralist & fiber artist whose work explores the intersections of culture, memory, music, & community. Her murals and fiber-based works reflect her Mexican, Cuban, & Guyanese heritage, & center joy, storytelling, and gathering. Mapp is currently the Lead Educator at the Baltimore Museum of Art & is committed to art as a vehicle for education, safety, & transformation in public space. Aynex Mercado | Art Quilts | IG & FB: @aynexquilts
Aynex Mercado is a quilter who grew up in Puerto Rico & is now living in Frederick, Maryland. She learned to sew in high school & began to quilt following a spinal cord injury she sustained in a car accident.
