Join Kevin Trickett to explore how the architecture of Wakefield has changed over the years, and continues to change today.
He will look at some of the buildings we have lost and some of the architectural jewels that we still have in and around the city centre. You’ll also get involved, considering which of the city centre’s newer buildings could become the treasured heritage of the future.

Biography: Kevin Trickett MBE
Kevin has been a committee member of Wakefield Civic Society since 1990. He was elected at President in 2002, a position he continues to occupy. He has written four books about Wakefield’s architectural heritage. Kevin speaks on a range of subjects related both to Wakefield and his other interests including Art Deco, transport and philosophy.
This talk is part of Heritage Open Days. It is also part of the public programme for Wakefield Museum’s latest Special Exhibition, Cynthia Kenny: A City Framed. Cynthia Kenny (1929 – 2021) captured the changing landscape of Wakefield with her paintbrush and pen. Spend some time in Cynthia’s Wakefield to admire iconic views and discover hidden gems.
