Celebrate National Paint a Rock, Hide a Rock Day with me during an open house between 1 and 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 24 and share one of my favorite things on my one-month anniversary as the Executive Director of the Wadena Area Chamber of Commerce!
I am notorious for collecting rocks as I’m out for walks with my dog. My home is full of buckets and bags of rocks, much to my Eric's dismay! There’s no rhyme or reason to the rocks I choose. Some are smooth and round, perfect for painting; some are jagged, scarred or sparkly ready to be thrown in the rock tumbler and possibly made into jewelry.
Rocks are so much like each of us. We’re imperfect, but beautiful and all ready for love. So, learning that July 24 is National Paint a Rock, Hide a Rock Day offered the perfect opportunity to share one of my passions with the community and get to know you better by doing something fun!
This year’s theme for Paint a Rock, Hide a Rock Day is to paint a rock blue to represent the earth, then include a red heart. The red heart reflects the love and kindness we share as humanity. Paint a rock and keep it for yourself or hide the rock, and share your kindness with the world and brighten the finder’s day!
If you choose to join me any time between 1 and 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, I will supply the paint and brushes, you bring the creativity, and Hometown Crafts and Fabrics will supply the finishing spray to protect your artistic creation. I have a bucket of rocks you can choose from or you can bring your own! It’s entirely up to you. We’ll paint and visit and get to know each other and bring some joy to the world.
