DESCRIPTION: Join Waco Walks on January 31 to learn more about the history and architecture of some of our most distinctive downtown church buildings. Dr. Ken Hafertepe, professor of Museum Studies at Baylor, and author of “Historic Buildings of Waco, Texas” will lead us on a walk including St. Francis on the Brazos, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, First Baptist Church, and Saint James United Methodist Church (now Second and Clay), and the original site of the Presbyterian Church. ACCESSIBILITY: We will be walking through downtown Waco, mostly on city streets and sidewalks. Be prepared for some grassy patches, curbs and broken sidewalks.
HYDRATION: Please bring your own water.
DOGS: Dogs welcome, but they MUST be on a leash, and you MUST scoop the poop! Dogs will not be allowed inside of buildings.
WEATHER/CANCELLATION PLAN: We plan to walk rain or shine, so if it looks like rain, bring an umbrella. Due to the high amount of grass along the route, if it has rained previously, we recommend wearing shoes to account for this.
