Join us on July 24 for an unforgettable HOT SHRM Chapter meeting featuring a story of true grit and transformation:
Adapt and Overcome: A Story of Survival. Presented by Jamie Blanek
Jamie is a proud Waco native whose life was forever changed on February 6, 2021, when she stopped to help children at the scene of a car accident—and was struck herself, ultimately losing her right leg. From that night forward, Jamie summoned her faith, courage, and conviction to live a purpose-driven life. A former Miss Waco (2014) and Miss McLennan County (2015), American Academy of Dramatic Arts graduate, longtime nonprofit volunteer, and board member for Fuzzy Friends Rescue, she has since become a professional athlete and Paralympic hopeful.
In this powerful, deeply personal talk, Jamie will share:
The emotional, physical, and mental challenges she faced in recovery
How she found strength in vulnerability and purpose in pain
Her journey as an adaptive athlete—and what it taught her about resilience
Whether you’re leading HR, building inclusive workplaces, or simply seeking inspiration, Jamie’s message will remind you that even in our darkest chapters, we all have the power to overcome—and to rewrite our story.
