HEY NORTH COUNTY DOG OWNERS! Do you enjoy hiking our amazing trails with your dogs like I do? Do your dogs Alert you when there is a rattlesnake near?
I will be hosting a Rattlesnake Avoidance Training coming to the area (Vista), next weekend 9/28, by appointment only beginning at 7:00 am to 2:30 pm . It takes 15 to 30 mins depending on your dog. You are the one handling your dog through the course so that you can learn your dog’s ALERT and you are holding the leash to feel and see them AVERT.
We teach the dog to recognize the SIGHT, SOUND AND SMELL OF LIVE, MUZZLED RATTLESNAKES, and to avoid them. Their natural instinct is to investigate that rattling “toy”!
THIS TRAINING USES NEGATIVE REINFORCEMENT AT THE CLEAR POINT OF RECOGNITION, (either a vibration stimulation, or a low level stimulation pre-set before entering the training course). MOST DOGS will put their face and nose into the pile of snakes, at that point they receive the stimulation in order to SIMULATE THAT THEY HAVE BEEN BITTEN BY THE SNAKE. THEN THE HANDLER MOVES OUT AND AWAY FROM THE DANGER, and THEN USES POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT TO TELL THE DOG “THAT IS WHAT WE WANT YOU TO DO!” THIS IS LIFE SAVING FOR NOT ONLY YOUR DOG, BUT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
