Lapkričio 27 dieną, 18 val. Vilniaus miesto galerijoje „Meno niša” atidaroma tapytojos Monikos Plentauskaitės asmeninė paroda Paroda „Kol aš laukiau tavo balso”.
Monika Plentauskaitė (g. 1993) – viena įdomiausių savo kartos Lietuvos tapytojų, nuosekliai kurianti savitą vizualinį pasaulį, kuriame susipina atmintis, laikas ir tapatybės klausimai. 2018 m. ji baigė Vilniaus dailės akademijos tapybos magistro studijas, tais pačiais metais ji tapo „Jaunojo tapytojo prizo“ laureate – vieno svarbiausių šiuolaikinės tapybos apdovanojimų Baltijos šalyse.
Jos kūrinių yra įsigiję Lietuvos ir užsienio kolekcionieriai, taip pat MO muziejus, o darbai pristatyti tiek Lietuvoje, tiek tarptautinėse meno mugėse Bazelyje, Vienoje, Berlyne ir kt.
M. Plentauskaitės kūryba pasižymi ypatingu vizualiniu jautrumu. Ji tyrinėja atminties ir tapatybės sluoksnius, pasitelkdama simbolinius motyvus – plaukus, užuolaidas, gyvūnus ar šeimos istorijų fragmentus. Šie motyvai leidžia menininkei jungti asmeninę patirtį su universaliomis žmogaus būsenomis: artumu, trapumu, laikinumu.
Pastaruoju metu M. Plentauskaitės tapybai naujų sluoksnių suteikė motinystės patirtis. Ji įnešė į kūrybą dar daugiau švelnumo, intymumo ir tylaus vidinio dialogo. M.Plentauskaitės paveikslai tampa savotiškomis atminties scenomis, kuriose realybė susitinka su sapnu, o kasdienybės fragmentai įgauna magiškojo realizmo atspalvį.
Pasak menininkės jos darbai nekalba tiesiogiai: “Žmones dažnai vaizduoju nusisukusius, juos slepia plaukai. Plaukai čia tampa atminties ir tapatybės metafora – jie uždengia, kaupia atmintį ir veikia kaip talpykla. Paveikslų fone tapau draperijas, kurios yra lyg scenos ar menamo vaidinimo rudimentas. Siekiu netikrumo, laikinos būsenos atmosferos. Greta žmonių atsiranda gyvūnai – kartais jie atrodo kaip globėjai, kartais kaip sustingę eksponatai, iškamšos. Šie motyvai siejasi su gyvenimo trapumu, gyvybės ir mirties susitikimu.”
Monika Plentauskaitė – tapytoja, kuri nuosekliai plėtoja savitą vizualinį pasaulį, jungiantį vidinė jautrumą ir subtilią ironiją. Jos tapyba atpažįstama iš netikėtų simbolių, humoro blyksnių ir žaismingos vaizduotės, leidžiančios kasdienybėje įžvelgti keistą magiškumo ir absurdo dermę. Tai kūrėja, nuolat permąstanti atmintį ir tapatybę, kurianti iš pažiūros tylius, bet vidumi pulsuojačius vaizdus – kupinus tiek poezijos, tiek švelnios saviironijos.

On November 27, Vilnius’ Meno Niša Gallery will open While I Was Waiting for Your Voice, a solo exhibition by painter Monika Plentauskaitė.
Monika Plentauskaitė (born in 1993) is one of the most interesting Lithuanian painters of her generation, consistently creating a unique visual world that intertwines memory, time, and questions of identity. In 2018, she completed her Master’s degree in Painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and in the same year, became the winner of the Young Painter Prize, one of the most important contemporary painting awards in the Baltic countries. Her works have been acquired by collectors in Lithuania and abroad, as well as by the MO Museum, and have been presented both in Lithuania and at international art fairs in Basel, Vienna, Berlin, and elsewhere.
M. Plentauskaitė’s work is characterized by her exceptional visual sensitivity. She delves into the layers of memory and identity by employing symbolic motifs such as hair, curtains, animals, and fragments of family stories. These motifs enable her to combine her personal experiences with the broader human condition of closeness, fragility, and transience.
Recently, motherhood has enriched M. Plentauskaitė’s painting, adding new layers of experience. This has brought an even greater sense of tenderness, intimacy, and quiet inner reflection to her work. Her paintings become peculiar scenes of memory where reality meets dreams and fragments of everyday life take on a touch of magical realism.
According to the artist, her works do not speak directly. “I often depict people with their backs turned and their hair covering their faces. Hair becomes a metaphor for memory and identity here – it covers and accumulates memory, acting as a repository. In the background of the paintings, I depict draperies that resemble the rudiments of a stage or an imaginary performance. I seek uncertainty and an atmosphere of transience. Animals appear alongside people – sometimes they resemble guardians, at other times they appear like frozen exhibits or stuffed animals. These motifs are associated with the fragility of life and the intersection of life and death.”
Monika Plentauskaitė is a painter who consistently develops her own unique visual world, combining inner sensitivity with subtle irony. Her paintings are characterized by unexpected symbols, humorous touches, and playful imagination, offering a strange blend of magic and absurdity in everyday life. She is an artist who constantly reimagines memory and identity, creating seemingly quiet images that pulse with poetry and gentle self-irony.
