Parodoje „Dirbtinė oda“ Gabrielė Šermukšnytė tyrinėja šiuolaikinės visuomenės psichologiją ir jos susikurtus grožio bei savęs reprezentacijos mitus. Menininkės kūryboje popkultūros atvaizdai virsta savotiškais simboliais – blizgančiais, viliojančiais, tačiau kartu ir ironiškais atspindžiais pasaulio, kuriame išorinis spindesys dažnai užgožia vidinį turinį.
Sąmoningai pertekliškose kompozicijose išryškėja dirbtinumo estetika – oda, dengiantis paviršius, tampa metafora trapiai ribai tarp tikrumo ir simuliacijos. Šermukšnytės darbai pulsuoja masinės kultūros ritmu, tačiau tuo pat metu jį grąžina atgal į žiūrovo sąmonę kaip kritinį atspindį.
„Dirbtinė oda“ kalba apie pasaulį, kuriame vaizdai seka mus nuolat, vilioja, blaško, siūlo nutolti nuo savasties, nuo gamtos, nuo autentiškumo. Ši paroda kviečia sustoti ir pažvelgti į paviršių kaip į veidrodį – ne tam, kad pasigrožėtume atvaizdu, bet kad pamatytume, kiek daug po juo slepiasi.

In Artificial Skin, Gabrielė Šermukšnytė explores the psychology of contemporary society and the myths it creates around beauty and self-representation. In the artist’s work, images from popular culture transform into symbolic forms – glossy, alluring, yet simultaneously ironic reflections of a world where external shine often overshadows inner substance.
Deliberately excessive compositions highlight the aesthetics of artificiality – the “skin” that covers the surface becomes a metaphor for the fragile boundary between reality and simulation. Šermukšnytė’s works pulse with the rhythm of mass culture, yet at the same time return this rhythm to the viewer’s consciousness as a critical reflection.
Artificial Skin addresses a world in which images constantly follow, seduce, distract, and invite us to drift away from our identity, from nature, from authenticity. The exhibition encourages viewers to pause and look at the surface as a mirror – not to admire the reflection, but to see how much lies beneath it.
