Learning from the homeland at the lake of the tumbling waters
with SNEMIŦIYE Dominique James, WSÁNEĆ Steward and SENĆOŦEN language educator
with special guest Trentön Schulz-Franco of @specialbirdservice
Location:
3873 Swan Lake Road at the Nature House, unceded Lekwungen and WSÁNEĆ territory.
What to expect:
Walking around near the nature house, a casual perusal of plants, birds, and ecosystems. Then after come in the nature house for tea and treats, and chatting.
Dominique (she/her) and Trentön (they/he) will be sharing about plants, birds, and ecosystems found near the nature house. Dominique will share some of her knowledge of the SENĆOŦEN names of the species, cultural uses, and importance from her WSÁNEĆ teachings.
6:30-7:00 Volunteer set up inside and socialize (anyone welcome to help for 3 free raffle tickets!)
7:00-8:00 Introductions and Welcome inside then Walk & Talk
8:00-8:30 Chatting inside, Treats and Tea break
8:30-8:45 Famous Native Plant Raffle!!
What to bring:
🍵A mug for herbal tea or decaf coffee
🔆A headlamp or flashlight
💰🍪Some small change for cookies, tea, or raffle tickets
🌿Native plants or native seeds if you have extra to share
