Join us for the "Oaks of Remembrance" inaugural ceremony on Sunday September 7th.
Oaks of Remembrance is a unique living memorial of Garry Oak trees and original music to memorialize members of The Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary’s).
The initiative will be unveiled at Royal Oak Burial Park Sunday September 7th 2025 to mark the 110th anniversary year of the Battle of Kitcheners’ Wood. Original music composed by local youth will be played to honour fallen soldiers, along with plaque unveiling, and live musical performances by the Pipes & Drums and Cpl (Ret'd) James Uu-Kwa-Qum Swan.
Oaks of Remembrance seeks to re-imagine and gently challenge traditional expectations of what commemoration and honouring our veterans can look and feel like. It aims to build connection & appreciation between communities by acknowledging the memory and legacy of CScotR through nature, music, and ongoing remembrance. One tree at a time, one composition at a time.
