The Adelaide Connection + The Wardells : 2 superb Choirs

The Adelaide Connection is the Elder Conservatorium’s premier jazz choir, est. in 1981 by John McKenzie & now directed by Lauren Henderson. The ensemble has played a key role in developing some of Australia’s leading jazz vocalists releasing four acclaimed albums. Known for its stylistic versatility & rich harmonic blend, the group has performed widely, including recent collaborations with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

The Wardells
Formed in 2025, The Wardells is an SSAA jazz choir honouring the legacy of Anita Wardell, one of Australia’s most acclaimed jazz vocalists. Dedicated to showcasing emerging female jazz talent, the ensemble blends tradition with innovation. With a repertoire spanning jazz standards to contemporary works, The Wardells focus on ensemble precision, vocal artistry, and celebrating Wardell’s enduring influence on Australian and international jazz.
