Join us for a book signing with Everett de Morier on Sunday, August 31st, from 12-3pm to celebrate Thirty-Three Cecils Day, a local holiday! Everett will be here signing Thirty-three Cecils, a fiction book partly set in Binghamton and soon to be a major motion picture, as well as his new children's picture book, 100 Cecils, a heartwarming story that explores the power of change and shows how even a child can make a big difference in the world. We hope to see you there!
Thirty-Three Cecils
"In 1992 — when Amy Fisher dominated every news channel — there lived two men. The first was a once prominent cartoonist who had a very public fall from grace. The other was an alcoholic who worked in a landfill. Both lived in in different parts of the country and led completely separate lives — until their paths crossed.
You know their names. And for over twenty years, you thought you knew their story — until their journals were found and authenticated in 2014.
And what we thought we knew — what the old news clips and the old stories wanted us to think — were all wrong."
Everett De Morier is the co-author of In the Ghost Shadows: The Untold Story of Chinatown’s Most Powerful Crime Boss, a critically acclaimed true crime book that showcases his ability to uncover hidden worlds with journalistic precision and narrative depth. It was nominated for both the Edgar Award (U.S.) and the Dagger Award (U.K.) and is currently being developed as a docudrama by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s G-Unit Productions.
De Morier is the author of several nonfiction works and the acclaimed novel Thirty-three Cecils, which won the top fiction prize at the 2015 London Book Festival and is now required reading in select high schools and colleges. As well as the children's book spinoff, 100 Cecils. The novel's cultural impact has grown over the years—so much so that every September 1 is celebrated as Thirty-three Cecils Day in Binghamton, NY. A film adaptation of the novel is in development, produced by Sunset River Productions, with Dustin Hoffman and Matthew Modine attached to the project. De Morier also penned the screenplay for the prequel, Finding Dutch, which will be filmed simultaneously and released as a separate feature.
Everett De Morier lives in Dover, Delaware, with his family and continues to develop projects that explore the intersection of crime, redemption, and personal story.
