Pisgah Academy Day -- Technology and Screens: Letting Our Values Lead the Way

The goal of this event is to provide an opportunity for community members to talk with each other about the role of digital technologies in their own lives and how these technologies align with community values.

In just a single generation, digital technologies have not only shaped our daily routines, but also our friendships and our communities. Dr. Kaelyn Wiles, a sociologist from Centre College, will lead a discussion about this transition and will share some of her research on how digital technologies have affected Gen Z’s overall happiness, well-being and relationships. This event will also provide an opportunity for community members to talk with each other about the role of digital technologies in their own lives and how these technologies align with community values.

We are honored to bring Dr. Wiles to Pisgah for the 2025 Pisgah Academy to lead our community dialogue on Technology and Screens: Letting Our Values Lead the Way. She teaches a course at Centre College on “Technology and Mindfulness (Sociology of Technology).” She is currently surveying students and members of the Danville community on loneliness.
