Winter Solstice is the longest and darkest night of the year. Life lies dormant in the quiet, it is a sacred time of rest & reflection before the spring awakening. The energy of winter is silence & stillness, listen to the whisper of our soul's yearnings. It can be a time to allow yourself rest, reflection & time for deep introspection.
In Yin Yoga, most of the class is on the floor. Positions are held in stillness for a longer time. Gravity is used to relax the muscles, targeting deep fascia, ligaments, and joints. Some benefits are improved flexibility, circulation & range of motion, connecting with your breath, & emotional balance. It reduces stress, depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbances. After yoga you will be guided into a relaxing singing bowls meditation.
Singing bowls can reduce stress & anxiety. It may calm your body and mind, lower blood pressure and also decrease tension and fatigue. This is why sound therapy has been used for years to help people improve their mental health, overcome insomnia and generally improve their quality of life.
Yoga mats and props will be provided but you may bring a pillow for extra comfort. Prior to attending class please be well hydrated and have a small snack before attending. Meditation works best on a half-full stomach. Sound healing therapy can be problematic for people with epilepsy, and metal joints. If you have a pacemaker or electronic devices in your body, please be cleared by your medical provider before attending.
**We do not provide refunds to our classes. If you cannot attend class, please let us know. Punch cards and gift certificates are available!
