Basket making is one of humanity’s oldest crafts, dating back to around 28,000 BCE. Early baskets, made from natural materials like reeds and grasses, served essential purposes such as storage and food gathering. Over time, cultures around the world developed distinct styles, using baskets for both practical and ceremonial uses. Passed down through generations, the craft reflects human creativity and adaptability. Today, basket weaving endures as both a traditional skill and a modern art form, honoring its deep history and cultural significance.
