We ACCEPT the following (Must be CLEAN, DRY, and WHITE):Polystyrene Coolers: Must be free of all food residue, plastic handles, metal hinges, cold packs, tape, labels, and stickers.Polystyrene Packing Blocks & Sheets: Must be free of moisture, dirt, cardboard, tape, labels, plastic film, or any other debris.Packing Peanuts (All Colors): Must be clean, dry, and reusable. They must be bagged or boxed separately and cannot be mixed with block foam.
⚠️ Important Handling Note: Please keep pieces as whole as possible. Do not break foam into small pieces. Excessively broken material is difficult to inspect, often hides contaminants, and may be rejected. It is not cost-effective to test numerous small fragments.
We WILL NOT ACCEPT: Broken/Diced Foam: If your foam is broken into many small pieces (beyond one or two breaks per original block), it will be rejected. Do not break up and bag your foam to "save space."
#7 "Biodegradable" or Starch-Based Foam: This is not polystyrene. It can be disposed of in your regular trash or dissolved in water.
#5 Polypropylene Foam: A less common packing foam that is brittle and breaks when bent. It is
frequently misidentified and does not react to the same recycling
process as polystyrene. Any material with tape, labels, plastic film, dirt, food residue, or moisture.
$5 per standard trash bag-sized load of accepted material. This helps cover the cost of transportation and processing.
All accepted material will be transported to our local recycling center for proper densification and recycling.Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. By ensuring your foam is
clean and contaminant-free, you are directly contributing to a
successful recycling program.
Thank you for taking the time to recycle your polystyrene foam correctly. For this program to be successful, it is extremely vital that the material we collect is COMPLETELY free of contaminants.
We cannot accept "mostly clean" or material you "think is clean." Our processor has zero tolerance for contamination. Why is this so strict? During the recycling process, the foam is melted and densified. Any plastic, especially from tape, will ruin an entire batch.A single piece of tape can contaminate up to 100 lbs of melted polystyrene, forcing the entire load to be landfilled. This negates the recycling efforts of everyone who participated correctly. Your meticulous care is what makes this program sustainable.
