About the event

Reading our past, to write a better future.
Explore and reshape history by creatively reinterpreting original archival documents to reveal new meanings and possibilities.

About this Event

Reflect on how history is preserved, interpreted, and reimagined. Using original documents from the Notarial Archive as a starting point, we explore how history is shaped and how we can imagine different outcomes or futures, using fragments of the past.

After diving into the past, you’ll become an active part of reimagining it. In small groups, you’ll receive photocopies of real historical documents and be invited to cut, rearrange, and remix their words and letters. Using the same fonts and phrases, you’ll create entirely new texts, poetic, political, or playful, that reflect fresh meanings and contemporary voices.

The results of the workshop will be shared publicly during the festival, alongside the mural inspired by the same archive materials, offering a layered, collaborative reflection on the power of rewriting the past.

No experience is needed, just an interest in stories, language, and a willingness to experiment.
