As Malta prepares for the second edition of designMT from 29 September to 4 October 2025, FiftySix Design Talks will host an evening that examines how design continues to evolve between tradition and innovation. The session will feature five participants from this year’s programme, each presenting their work and approach, offering insight into the diverse ways design contributes to contemporary life and cultural identity.
▪️ Christian Bezzina, Medina Steels. Bespoke metalwork where technical precision meets creative expression, developed in dialogue with global brands and local artists.
▪️ Gabriella Lukacs, GABE Studio. Sustainable fashion that reimagines textiles through upcycling and zero-waste practice, merging contemporary aesthetics with environmental responsibility.
▪️ Geoffrey Barault, pastry chef. Sculptural patisserie that transforms culinary heritage into contemporary art forms, blending technical mastery with visual storytelling.
▪️ François Mangion, I+A. Spatial design guided by light, proportion and material, creating environments that balance refinement with human experience.
▪️ David Sciberras, Invent 3D. Engineering and additive manufacturing applied across the product development cycle, extending the potential of prototyping and production.
The discussion will set the tone for the upcoming design week, highlighting how design in Malta is shaped by both cultural roots and forward-looking practice.
