Tie Valkeakoskelta Sääksmäen suuntaan kulki vanhalta puusillalta Tohkanmäkeä ylös ja siitä edelleen Helkavuoren ohi kohti Palmunmäkeä. Valkeakoski-seuran Historia- ja perunnetyöryhmän puheenjohtaja Heikki Heino kertoo reitin varrella olleista rakennuksista ja 1950-luvulla rakennetusta uudesta Sääksmäentiestä. Samalla hän avaa Sääksmäentien historiaa esittelevän näyttelyn.
