Workshop Description
Join artist Jami Nix Rahn for an immersive, hands-on workshop exploring the expressive possibilities of oil paint and cold wax medium. Participants will learn how to layer, carve, and mark-make with these materials to create richly textured surfaces that reflect both process and meaning.

Through guided demonstrations and personalized instruction, Jami will show how combining oil paint with wax can evoke depth, light, and emotion. Attendees will leave with new techniques, insights, and a finished work that reflects their own creative process.

About the Artist
Jami Nix Rahn’s art defies categorization, moving fluidly between mediums and styles—from the precision of hyper-realism to the spontaneity of abstraction. Raised in a military family, her sensitivity to place and identity was shaped by a childhood spent across Europe and South America, where she apprenticed in stone carving and bronze casting in Portugal and studied in Geneva and São Paulo.

Her formal training includes portraiture in pastel and oil under Daniel E. Greene (PSA, NA, AWS) and advanced studies at the Art Students League of New York with Richard C. Pionk and John Hultberg. After earning her BFA from Florida Atlantic University, Jami became deeply involved in South Florida’s art scene during the rise of Art Basel Miami Beach and Wynwood.

Since 2020, she has lived in Colorado’s Vail Valley, where the grandeur of the Rockies inspires her large-scale oil and cold wax paintings. Her series such as Fragile Nature and Echoes of Time explore the tension between ephemeral beauty and enduring presence. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is included in both public and private collections worldwide.
