Peña Adobe Historical Society Celebrates Hispanic Heritage

The Peña Adobe Historical Society celebrates Hispanic Heritage at the Society's open house on May 3rd from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pena Adobe Park.

Experience the dancers of Son Dé Metztli Grupo Folklorico! Founded by Karina Barragan in Vallejo Son Dé Metztli strives to preserve Mexican culture customs & traditions through ballet folklorico dance. Instructor Gabriela Rodgriquez’s students include dancers from ages 5 years to young adults. 

Joining the day's activities is Francisco Pulido of Rancho El Zapotillo in Dixon performing his roping skills! Francisco is from Rancho El Zapotillo in Dixon California and has been roping for 40 years. Meet Francisco and his horse Brownie! 

Listen to El Mariachi Los Jaguares de Willis Jepson the only academic mariachi ensemble in Solano County! Featuring violins viola trumpets guitarrón vihuela and guitar Mariachi Los Jaguares presents an energetic setlist of traditional Mexican music and other styles to delight everyone! Led by local musicians and educators Sergio Cabada and Justin Au the musicians of Mariachi Los Jaguares are extremely dedicated and talented 7th and 8th grade students at Willis Jepson Middle School in Vacaville.

Join Historical Society docents for tours of the Peña Adobe Museum and grounds make a corn husk doll and meet Darlene Peña Coombs a 5th generation descendent of the Peña family! 

Come join us at Peña Adobe bring a picnic lunch to enjoy under towering trees at this historic park as we commemorate how Latino and Hispanic communities have influenced and contributed to American society.
