Mutiny presents: (μ)Alice-an-audio-visual-dutch-fable
(μ)Alice reimagines ACU’s history as a surreal journey, moving through the building’s timelines carried by live voices, sound, music genres, and shifting visual landscapes.
An audio-visual performance that reimagines ACU’s history as a living fable, seen through the distorted, playful, and poetic lens of a modern Alice. Blending immersive sound, live voices, and visual storytelling, the piece transforms the building’s past into a dreamlike journey across timelines. It becomes both a tribute to ACU and a new artistic portal where Utrecht’s underground culture is experienced as living fiction.
At the core of (μ)Alice lies the collaborative language of artist Nalia Ziku and artistic director Nico Fytas. Building on Ziku’s hybrid performances—where narrative voice, song, and spatial sound blur into one—and Fytas’ dramaturgical approach to live electronics, they treat ACU not as a static venue but as a layered ecosystem of stories.
In (μ)Alice they fuse spoken word, vocal processing, music genres, and visual atmospheres to craft a Dutch fable where myth and memory intertwine. Their intention is to “listen” to the building: to reveal its unseen emotional landscapes, amplify its echoes of resistance, community, and queer underground culture, and invite audiences into a dreamlike journey through time, sound, and collective imagination.
