Better Scenes and Short Form Games
Ready to take your improv to a higher level and bring more depth, clarity, and theatricality to your scenes?
This 12 week course helps you expand your improvisation toolbox with a wide variety of scene based and short form games that explore storytelling, character work, and emotional truth in greater detail.
This course is designed for improvisers who already have stage experience and want to develop richer acting skills, stronger choices, and more grounded performances. You will work with multiple formats, including open scenes that do not follow a fixed structure, and you will gradually build toward a full show with your group.

Creating believable and emotionally truthful characters
Building more layered relationships on stage
Understanding story structure for longer and more dynamic scenes
Performing open scenes without predetermined rules
Working confidently with the audience, including taking suggestions and clearly presenting your game or format
Strengthening presence, commitment, and clarity on stage
Preparing and rehearsing for a public performance
Receiving detailed feedback to support your personal growth

Who this course is for
This course is ideal for intermediate players. Ideally you have completed at least two improv courses and have performed in at least one show. You feel comfortable on stage and are ready to explore deeper and more theatrical scene work.
Advanced players who want to strengthen their technique are also very welcome.

About the Trainer
Rutger Pull is an experienced improviser and trainer with a strong background in short form games, known in Dutch as Theatresport. His expertise lies in quickly identifying what a scene needs and teaching players how to make scenes clearer, sharper, and more engaging. Rutger gives friendly, intelligent, and constructive feedback that helps each participant develop their own unique strengths.
Rutger previously played with Pro Deo in Enschede and has performed for many years with Iets Anders in Utrecht.
