About the event

Spring Equinox Ceremony

The LaSalle County Historical Society will host a Spring Equinox ceremony behind our Aitken Schoolhouse outdoors at 1:00pm on Friday March 20th. Pending weather
The Ceremony will be managed by local Native American Gerald Savage (White Winnebago) a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation. A time-honored practice handed down through the generations. We will be having a Native prayer and a Smudging ceremony honoring the new season and upcoming growing season, renewal of the seasonal vows and of our own direction. We will ask that the winters cleansing, rejuvenate us for the spring season. (Standing and Smoke) Approximately 30 minutes. There is no charge for this, but donations to the Historical Society will be appreciated.
