WWE Ottawa - Backpack Camping in Algonquin Park

Join us for an exciting weekend filled with fall colours in the beautiful Algonquin Park, as we navigate our first hike-in backcountry camping experience.

Algonquin Park is Ontario's oldest and largest Provincial Park and is home to many different species.

After arriving on Friday we will hike to our first campsite on Stratton Lake, which is just under 4km. The following morning we will pack up and move to our second spot on Johnston Lake. There are two routes we can take, one of which is around 4km and the second is closer to 10km. We will assess which route to take based on everyone's comfort. The longer of the two routes would allow us to stop at High Falls, a natural waterslide. After packing up on our last morning we will have a short hike back to the parking lot. For anyone who wishes, we can hike the Barron Canyon (1.3 km) on the way back to the city and really take in the fall colours.

October 17 - Stratton Lake

Sites can accomodate up to 3 tents and a total of 9 people. Sites will book up fast so it is recommended to secure them early. Should you choose to share a site or tent, coordinating the booking and dividing the costs will be your responsibility and everyone will need to have registered for the event and be a member of WWE Ottawa. All cars will need to be parked at the Grand Lake Achray Access Point and will require a parking permit.

Each participant will be responsible for their own gear and food. Closer to the date, we will host an information session to help you understand what gear is required and a facebook chat wil be setup to support sharing gear/tents/carpooling.
