Introducing Midweek Mixers!
Starting in August, we will be open one evening each month with sales, drawings, a fun activity & light refreshments! We will also feature one of the artists from the Art Hub next door &/or one of our own store vendors.
To kick off our Midweek Mixers, on Wednesday, August 27, we will be hosting a "Meet the Artist" event, spotlighting local artist, Mary Boettger, who will be demonstrating a decorative technique called sgraffito. This technique involves the application of a colored clay slip over a pot, then carving a design through the top color to show the clay color beneath. In addition, you will be given the opportunity to give it a try & create your own small ornament using the sgraffito technique.
Mary is a retired high school art teacher who has recycled into a full time ceramic artist. She has a bachelor degree in Art Education from OSU & a masters in fine art from Ball Sate. She works with stoneware & porcelain clays to create individually handcrafted pottery with originally designed surface decorations.
Mary will be giving away the beautiful set of mugs in the picture, which were made using the sgraffito technique. Be sure to get registered that evening. No purchase necessary.
Our "Meet the Artist Event" hours will be from 5-7 pm on August 27. The Art Hub will also be open from 5-7. Hope to see you there!
