The new Umeå gallery is now ready to open. We are located at Kulturmejeriet in Röbäck and we are sharing the space with Röbäck Glas & Lera. RGL is both a gallery for contemporary craft and a ceramic and glass workshop and we are looking very much forward to seeing our different activities collaborate, both visually and practically. In our first exhibition in Umeå we present the works by the mexican/spanish artist Esteban Erosky.
The works of Erosky are covered with motifs balancing between discomfort and humor, the perverse and the childish, sweets and intestines. They deal with conflicts linked to gender, religion, pleasure and fear. The jewellery is made of metal and enamel, but Erosky's glass drawings have a spontaneous, emotional expression, contrasting the time consuming craftsmanship.

On the same day my own exhibition will open at Röbäck Glas & Lera. It will focus on three different periods of life; youth, middle age and old age. The works talk about eroticism, politics and power, about slowness, reflection and poetry and about aging, decay and humour. More info here:

Det nya Umeågalleriet är nu redo att öppna. Vi finns på Kulturmejeriet i Röbäck och delar lokalen med Röbäck Glas & Lera. RGL är både ett galleri för samtida konsthantverk och en keramik- och glasverkstad, och vi ser mycket fram emot att se våra olika verksamheter samarbeta, både visuellt och praktiskt. I vår första utställning i Umeå presenterar vi verk av den mexikanska/spanska konstnären Esteban Erosky.
Eroskys arbeten är täckta av motiv från gränslandet mellan obehag och humor, det perversa och det barnsliga, sötsaker och inälvor. De behandlar frågor om konflikter kopplade till kön, religion, njutning och rädsla. Smyckena är tillverkade av metall och emalj men Eroskys glasteckningar har ett spontant, emotionellt uttryck, det långsamma hantverket till trots.

Samma dag öppnar min egen utställning på Röbäck Glas & Lera. Det blir nedslag i tre olika perioder av livet; ungdomen, medelåldern och ålderdomen. Arbetena handlar om erotik, politik och power, om långsamhet, eftertanke och poesi och om åldrande, förfall och humor. Mer info här:
