The Extravagant Earl: Heritage Open Day Walk & Talk

This Heritage Open Day, discover the lavish world of Henry North Holroyd, 3rd Earl of Sheffield, whose passion for grandeur and generosity transformed Sheffield Park into a spectacular stage of Victorian leisure and entertainment.

This walk and talk explores Lord Sheffield's iconic lakes, world renowned cricket ground, and the many events he hosted; from dazzling firework displays and theatre performances to ice skating exhibitions and sporting tournaments.

Learn how Lord Sheffield welcomed thousands to his estate, treating guests to music, refreshments, and unforgettable spectacles, all at his own expense. Hear stories of his generosity, including legendary school treats for children from London’s East End, complete with aquatic shows and floating paper animals.

This walk is free, and doesn't need pre-booking but is on a first come, first served basis.
