Professional Landscape Maintenance Seminar Set for January 30 in Tyler
TYLER, Texas — Local landscape professionals and gardening enthusiasts are invited to attend the annual Professional Landscape Maintenance Seminar, returning Friday, January 30, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Cotton Belt Building classroom, 1517 W. Front Street, Suite 116, in Tyler. The free program is hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Earth Kind® Horticulture Education Committee in partnership with the City of Tyler Water Utilities.
This long running East Texas education event provides practical, research-based guidance for commercial landscape managers, maintenance crews, and avid home gardeners. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., and there is no cost to attend.
The seminar will open with horticulturist Ron Hill presenting “Landscape Pruning.” With winter being the ideal season for pruning many trees and shrubs, Hill will discuss proper techniques that improve plant health, reduce maintenance, and help prevent common pruning mistakes.
At 10 a.m., horticulturist and Vital Earth Resources representative Mark Chamblee will present “Earth Kind Landscaping: Best Soil Environment,” offering sustainable strategies for building healthy soils that support long term landscape success.
The program concludes with Smith County horticulturist Greg Grant presenting “Seasonal Color,” highlighting top-performing annuals and perennials for East Texas, planting tips, and design strategies for creating attractive and sustainable color beds.
