Join author and historian Arnold R. Alanen for a presentation on his book The Scenic Route: Building Minnesota’s North Shore. Explore the fascinating history and cultural landscape of Highway 61, the iconic road that winds along Lake Superior from Duluth to the Canadian border. From fishing villages and logging sites to lighthouses, parks, and roadside attractions, Alanen highlights the people and places that shaped one of the Midwest’s most beloved byways.

About the Speaker:
Arnold R. Alanen is professor emeritus of planning and landscape architecture at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and author of several acclaimed works, including Morgan Park: Duluth, U.S. Steel, and the Forging of a Company Town.

This event is free and open to the public and registration is not required, but attendees are encouraged to RSVP. Tickets are not required for admission.
