Ray on karismaattinen kuubalainen tanssija ja opettaja, joka on esiintynyt Kuuban television baletissa ja kiertänyt Eurooppaa ja Latinalaista Amerikkaa kuuluisien koreografien, kuten Tropicana Cabaret’n taiteellisen johtajan Santiago Alfonson, kanssa. Nykyään Ray asuu Italiassa ja opettaa salsaa, rumbaa, reggaetonia ja afrokuubalaisia tansseja kansainvälisesti.

Sopii esimerkiksi reggaetonia aiemmin tanssineille.
Kuubalainen vastine reggaetonille tunnetaan nimellä cubaton. Tälle musiikille löytyy ns. alalajeja, joista yksi on reparto. Reparto on vauhdikas musiikkityyli, jonka rytmi pohjautuu kuubalaisen rumban clave-rytmiin ja myös tanssin monet liikkeet on luotu tähän samaan rytmiin.
klo 12:30–13:45 🔴 Salsa con Afro (keskitaso, soolotunti)
Tällä tunnilla yhdistellään salsaa ja kuubalaisten afrotanssien (esim. yorùbá-tanssien) liikkeitä. Tunnilla tanssitaan kuubalaiseen salsa/timba-musiikkiin. Afrokuubalaiset tanssit ovat syntyneet orjien kulttuuriperinnöstä ja elävät tänä päivänä vahvana osana kuubalaista tanssikulttuuria.

Ray Herrera is a charismatic Cuban dancer and teacher who has performed with the Ballet of Cuban Television and toured across Europe and Latin America with renowned choreographers, including Santiago Alfonso, the artistic director of the legendary Tropicana Cabaret. Currently based in Italy, Ray teaches salsa, rumba, reggaeton, and Afro-Cuban dances internationally.

Suitable for those who have danced reggaeton before.
The Cuban version of reggaeton is often called cubaton, and one of its substyles is reparto. It’s a dynamic music and dance style rooted in the clave rhythm of Cuban rumba, with movements created to match this rhythm – full of energy, groove, and street vibe!
12:30–13:45 🔴 Salsa con Afro (intermediate, solo class)
This class combines salsa with movements from Afro-Cuban dances (such as yorùbá dances) to the rhythm of Cuban salsa/timba music. Afro-Cuban dances originate from the cultural heritage of enslaved Africans and have evolved in Cuba over centuries, remaining an essential and powerful part of Cuban dance culture today.
