Sheep to Skein: Processing Sheep’s Fleece!

You love to visit the fleece sale at the Vermont Sheep & Wool Festival—all those natural colors, and so many styles of crimp!!—but then you lose heart. After all, how would you know what flaws can be corrected, and which are dealbreakers? And once you got home, how would you even START to process your treasure?!

Fear not!! Please come join me on Thursday, October 2 from 10 am to 5 pm, when we will discuss all these questions and more! After checking guidelines for selecting fleeces, we’ll spend some time scouring a couple (and discuss simple techniques to dye your wool, if desired), before tackling carding and combing techniques, and the spinning techniques best suited to each prep. You’ll head to the fleece sale barn on Saturday with an expert eye and a song in your heart!
