Karen is a civil engineer-turned-quilter and educator in northern California. As a self-proclaimed textile-addict, she is drawn to layers of design and expression possible in quilting. She loves experimenting and strives to find efficiencies in process and material use.
When teaching and writing quilting patterns, she uses an encouraging and engineering-influence methodological approach. The focus is on fun and skill building, while carefully and compassionately guiding students beyond their comfort zones to new levels of enjoyment, creativity and skill.
Her designs are out of the box, and integrate a love of geometry, experimentation, interconnection, depth, and texture. Karen’s work has been featured in magazines, exhibited at local and international quilt shows and has been a faculty member of QuiltCon meetings.
Karen shares her passion for quilting with the hope that you can experience the thrill of discovery and the satisfaction of creating warm treasures.
