About this Event

Throughout this hands-on session, organized by Boris Dralyuk, Nimrod's Hachi Chuku and Stasha Cole will introduce and guide participants in experimenting with three poetic forms: haibun, blackout poetry, and the abecedarian. Come join Nimrod's creative community and leave with poems of your own!

Hachi Chuku is the Managing Editor of Nimrod International Journal. Their writing explores family, nature, and mental health within the realms of fiction and poetry. They have work in The Shallot, Knee Brace Press, The Amazine, The Basilisk Tree, and elsewhere.

Stasha Cole is a PhD student in literature at The University of Tulsa and the editorial assistant for Nimrod International Journal. You can find her poetry and photography in literary journals such as Wild Hyacinth, Susurrus, Pinch, Poetry South, Red Flag Poetry, Anodyne, The Rumen, and elsewhere.

Boris Dralyuk is the author of My Hollywood and Other Poems (2022), editor of 1917: Stories and Poems from the Russian Revolution (2016), co-editor of The Penguin Book of Russian Poetry (2015), and translator of volumes by Isaac Babel, Andrey Kurkov, Leo Tolstoy, and other authors. He is the recipient of the 2022 Gregg Barrios Book in Translation Prize from the National Book Critics Circle, the 2020 Kukula Award for Excellence in Nonfiction Book Reviewing from the Washington Monthly, and the 2024-2026 Tulsa Artist Fellowship. He is the former editor in chief of the Los Angeles Review of Books, and his poems, translations, and essays have appeared in The New York Review of Books, the Times Literary Supplement, The New Yorker, Granta, Best American Poetry 2023, and elsewhere. He teaches courses in literature and creative writing at the University of Tulsa.

Tulsa Artist Fellowship’s third annual Open House embodies our commitment to nurturing Tulsa and its visionary artistic practitioners. Programs foster interconnectedness through community care and collaboration.
