• This is the full professional production of Carousel, a 1945 musical from the Golden Era by the same team that brought Oklahoma! two years earlier. Based on the success of the ballet in Oklahoma! Rodgers & Hammerstein included a ballet in Carousel and hired Agnes DeMille again to choreograph it. The Will Rogers Stage production of Carousel contains virtually all the elements of a Broadway show or a National Tour, except that our chorus members don’t dance and our set is minimal because our stage is not big enough for today’s productions, so our set will be projected onto a giant backdrop with many original scenery changes. Our principal actors will be in costume, and they will perform with all the emotions of the script. Our audience will see an entire presentation of Carousel, which TIME Magazine called the Best Musical of the 20th Century.
• There are not many venues today where you can hear the music played by a full orchestra to the original score. Many Broadway and touring companies use fewer musicians and fill the sound with synthesizers that pretend to be musical instruments. Our orchestra is larger than many playing on Broadway today.
• Ticket prices begin at $30, and we offer more than 400 seats in our 1,400-seat auditorium at that low price. Top of the range is $75 for those who prefer premium seating. This is very reasonable to view a full Broadway musical production. We want theatregoers to experience our full professional production with a great cast of classically trained singers, accompanied by a full chorus and orchestra, played the way it was first performed in 1945, plus an original ballet. You cannot see a complete Broadway show like this in New York for anywhere near these prices.
