CLASS DESCRIPTION
Join experienced instructor Victoria T. Wills for a 4-week watercolor class designed to build your confidence and skill in painting landscapes. With over 30 years of teaching experience, Victoria will guide you step by step—from designing a strong composition to adding finishing details—so you leave the course with both knowledge and a completed work you’ll be proud of.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Week 1: Designing our composition: understanding the basic values of a landscape, the 75%-25% rule, and learning perspective. Bring a favorite photo (there will be some photos available for those that don’t have one), a sketchbook, and a pencil.
Week 2: Transferring design to Watercolor paper: you will learn how to apply masking fluid, the colors of aerial perspective, and why we need color theory and a dominate color. We will practice landscape elements (trees, rocks and clouds).
Week 3: Practicing brush strokes: laying down of our first wash and our darkest dark (a foolproof method for success). We will emphasize our focal point to make sure we have a good pathway for the eye and the art of exiting the painting.
Week 4: Adding medium value and detail: we will learn dry brush, how to soften edges, and how to apply fun texture.
