Steve Roach is a leading American pioneer in the evolution of ambient/electronic music, helping shape it into what it is today. Twice Grammy-nominated, his releases span over four decades and over 150 albums. His massive catalog of landmark recordings includes Structures from Silence, Dreamtime Return and Mystic Chords & Sacred Spaces (part 1-4). Drawing from a vast, unique and deeply personal authenticity, his albums are fueled by the momentum of a lifetime dedicated to the soundcurrent. Roach is an artist operating at the pinnacle of his career, driven by a passion and unbroken focus that lives within the soul-stirring depth of his music.
From the expansive, time-suspending spaces reflecting his spiritual home in Baja Arizona to the fire-breathing, sequencer, percussive-driven rhythmic expressions woven from all things electric and organic, this innovative world of sound has been nourished by years of transcendent concerts worldwide in extraordinary settings. A concert space within a lava tube on the Canary Island of Lanzarote, an ancient cathedral in the Basque region of Spain, a mountain-top Roman amphitheater in Verucchio Italy, a volcanic lava rock performance site encircled by 65 stone monoliths in Mexico City, along with cathedrals, intimate rock and jazz venues and classic theaters across the US and Europe are among the spectacular scenes that have informed the evolution of his work.
Roach's two hours and longer extended solo concerts unfold as a continuous journey experience traveling through a vast range of sonic landscapes, dynamic emotion, visceral intensity and delicate introspection.
