Sand Mandala art featuring Venerable Lama Losang Samten

Losang-la will begin work on the sand mandala on Sunday, October 12, and work will continue for several days, with public viewing periods each day. In keeping with Tibetan Buddhist tradition, as well as with Buddhist teachings on the transitory nature of all things, the sand mandala will be dissolved in a special ceremony, open to the public, on Saturday, October 18, with reception to follow.

We will also present a showing of The Dalai Lama’s Gift at the Gallagher Theater the evening of Thursday, October 16. The film will be followed by a talk by Losang-la, who was involved in the film’s production.

Viewing of the completed work, dissolution ceremony, and a reception cosponsored by the Center for Buddhist Studies will take place Saturday afternoon.
