About this Event

Mentors! WELCOME to Edge4Vets!

Our workshop is made possible by Desert Thunder Squadron as part of its "One Year Away" project in partnership with business, government, military and school partners committed to supporting transitioning airmen from Davis-Monthan AFB and veterans throughout the region.

We'll be expanding Edge4Vets to Tucson on Nov 7 with a workshop to follow up on the successful start made last spring. The fall session will be hosted by Banner - University Medical Center from 9:30am to 4pm at 1625 N. Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ 85719.

Edge4Vets helps military service personnel learn how to translate their military strengths into "tools" for civilian success, then we connect them to decision-makers at partner companies to explore opportunities for good jobs that can lead to great careers - whether they wish to work in Tucson or elsewhere.

In addition, DTS has developed a mentoring program, called "DTS Wingmen," that gives participants a "one to one" mentor to follow up with them after the workshop to help them maximize their success.

As a "workshop support" (which includes both HR reps and DTS Wingmen) you'll be providing participants with invaluable feedback as the program takes them through a four-step process to translate their military strengths and create a draft for a personal PLAN4SUCCESS.

There's no preparation you'll need to do. The workshop will guide participants, but you'll be serving as a listening "agent" and providing feedback to affirm them. The Orientation video (below) will give you an understanding of your supporting role. You do not need to have military experience to be a "workshop mentor," all you need to bring is your desire to see the airmen succeed.

The workshop is conducted by the Human Resiliency Institute at Fordham University in New York which has been offering Edge4Vets nationally since 2011. Three thousand veterans have taken the program in nine states. This program with DTS in Tucson is the first implementation in AZ.
