Intro to Visual Coding + Performance with Max

This workshop, taught by Briana Marela, is meant to be an introductory look at the potential for using Max as a performance tool. You will go over some basic visual coding to build a simple melodic patch together as a class using MIDI, the mic on your laptop, and using phones as wireless controllers via TouchOSC. Participants will also take home a pre-made patch of everything covered in the workshop to be able to use at home to begin their journey with Max. Ideally a participant would have a free 30 day trial installed of Max on their computer (or already own it), and be willing to purchase TouchOSC Mk1 on the app store ($4.99). However if someone would simply like to watch, take in the lecture, and then take home the pre-made patch that is fine as well. Max is not something that can be fully taught in one hour, it is like learning a language, but we would hope that a participant would be able to gauge and spark their interest from this workshop.
