Two-Day Carving Workshop with J.P. Hand
Create a Traditional Tuckerton-Style Black Duck Decoy
Join master carver J.P. Hand for an exclusive two-day carving workshop designed for intermediate and advanced carvers. This class offers a unique opportunity to recreate a traditional Rowley Horner style Black Duck decoy, native to the Tuckerton area.


Dates: September 6 and 13 (2 Part Class Series)
Location: Parker's Decoy Shop at the Tuckerton Seaport

Under the guidance of J.P. Hand—also known as Jamie Hand, a Cape May County decoy maker with over 50 years of experience—participants will carve a hollow Black Duck decoy from local Atlantic White Cedar and finish it using traditional oil paints. This hands-on class not only refines your carving and painting techniques but also connects you to the rich decoy-making traditions of South Jersey.

This workshop is a perfect opportunity to prepare a decoy for entry in the Tuckerton Decoy Show this September.



Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced
