TRYON, NC – The Tryon International Film Festival (TRIFF) is delighted to present the highly anticipated World Premiere of feature film Christmas in Mistletoe as the Saturday evening spotlight screening on October 11 at 8:00 PM at the historic Tryon Theatre — the very location where much of the movie was filmed. Tickets are now available at tryoninternationalfilmfestival.org, but seating is limited.
Now celebrating its 11th year, TRIFF prides itself on bringing exceptional films to the Foothills region. This year’s selection is especially close to home. Christmas in Mistletoe was shot entirely on location in Tryon and surrounding areas, with a cast and crew drawn primarily from Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina — making it a true homegrown production.
It was produced by Mountain Laurel Films, the producers of Are You There which won at the Film Festival in 2024 in partnership with KCD Media LLC. Jackrabbit Media is distributing the film.

"We set out to create a Christmas movie that showcased the uniqueness of Tryon filled with engaging characters. The town was so welcoming to us when we moved here and we're delighted to infuse that spirit into the movie."

When I read the script, I was struck by how relatable each character was — with their own arcs, motivations, and quirks. While it’s a Christmas movie, it’s not your typical holiday fare. It’s self-aware, bold, and infuses the magic of Christmas in a way that feels real and down to earth. We had just a month to prepare, and the crew worked tirelessly to transform Tryon into Mistletoe. The people of Tryon truly embraced us — rolling out the red carpet and becoming part of the film, whether on screen or behind the scenes. It really did take a village — in this case, a whole town.”
