About the event

Flamenco Amor
Flamenco Amor - traditional Flamenco Dance Show
Claudia Caolín, expressive and elegant dancer resident on British soil, will show her talent and expertise with body and soul. She is joined by the beautiful dancer Aneta La Polaca, originating from Poland who will vow the audience with her presence and passion. The two are accompanied by stunningly virtuous Flamenco guitarist Jamie Cuthbertson (Cuffy) and impressively powerful singer Jasmine Villalobos from Cadiz. For this special evening a kaleidoscopic journey to the manifold styles of Flamenco awaits, from a nostalgic, historic feast of the senses to a modern, streamline interpretation, underlined by acoustic fireworks. The Flamenco trio and their combined love for this majestic artform will truly make this a very memorable evening.

Flamenco is Passion, Flamenco is Life, Flamenco is Self-Belief.
Having its roots in India, Flamenco has developed over many centuries whilst it originated as an art form amongst the Roma Travellers who were to settle down in Southern Andalusia in the 17th century, some of them making their way via North Africa, incorporating rhythms and songs along the way. In the ethnic melting pot of Andalusia and the environment of the poorer classes, Flamenco originated like a scream for liberation, like a defiant stance against oppression, and found its first 'golden age' in the 19th century. Since then, the art form has come a long way in all three strands: song, dance, and guitar - constantly developing while still being true to its original message of self-affirmation. Flamenco says: 'This is who I am. Take it or leave it!'
About the artists:
Claudia Caolín has her background in Contemporary and Flamenco Dance and has now a teaching experience of over 30 years. Originally from Germany, she studied for many years in Berlin, London (Laban Centre London), Madrid (Amor de Dios) and Granada, where she considerably broadened her technical abilities as well as her theoretical understanding of both art forms. (Claudia also holds an MA in Dance Studies and wrote her thesis about Flamenco Art.) In 2005 Claudia moved to Cornwall where she teaches and performs. She originated many theatre productions and tours, amongst them Minar Pasión, which received Arts Council funding. 2018, the CIC Claudia Caolín Dance & Entertainment was founded to promote Flamenco teaching, culture and performance in Cornwall.

Aneta Skut (Aneta La Polaca) has discovered her passion for dance as a child, but flamenco has captured her soul and led her to follow its path to Spain, where she learnt from renowned teachers like La Truco, Antonio Canales, and La Lupi at Amor de Dios in Madrid and at Carmen de las Cuevas in Granada. Aneta’s expressive style has brought together many influences from the east and west – a fusion representing her life journey through different countries. Aneta lives in Bristol and performs regularly in the South-West.
Cuffy Cuthbertson, originally from Glasgow, began playing guitar from an early age and when Flamenco entered his life, it soon took over. He studied under Tito Heredia, Paco Serrano and Gerardo Nuñez and has acquired an extraordinary level of technique. He tours internationally with the singer Yasmine Levy as well as playing with his band Flamenco Loco around the Southwest UK. He also teaches flamenco guitar in Bristol.
Jasmine Villalobos is a Flamenco singer and teacher from La Línea, Cádiz, Spain and has been based in London for many years. She has been singing professionally for over 20 years in many tablaos, restaurants, corporate events, festivals, and theatres all over the UK and abroad. She was the resident singer in the famous ‘Costa Dorada, Meson el Ruso’ tablao in central London for many years and she has worked with renown artists, such as Manuel Liñan, Antonio Canales, Rafaela Carrasco, Mercedes Ruiz, Marco Flores, and Pilar Ogalla amongst others. Jasmine also teaches Flamenco singing and knowledge classes.
Tickets to Flamenco Amor will be available from the theatres, except of the show in The BEAT in Bodmin, which will be purchasable on Eventbrite.
