The Troy Community Band, under the baton of John Malvin, is proud to announce that our holiday show this year--"Malvin's Merry Christmas"--features Thomas Jostlein, Associate Principal Horn player for the St. Louis Symphony and his son, Violinist Klaus Jostlein.
The Jostleins will perform several holiday pieces, including some of Thomas' own arrangement, and one by local composer Mark Connor for horn and jazz violin.
In addition, Thomas will bring his Alphorn, a traditional wooden horn of the Alps once used for long-distance communication in the mountains. Thomas will show, as he did for us in 2023, that the Alphorn can be used as a true musical instrument.
After spending most of the past 50 years directing bands and educating young musicians, John Malvin has decided to make this his final show. Please come out to help us see him off to the rest of his retirement!
A reception for the public to meet the performers, John Malvin, and band members wil occur after the show.
