Since the changing of the guard in 2020, as long serving stalwart Pete McGregor handed over the keys to former Sheer Music promoter, Kieran Moore, the Pump has lacked it’s regular Folk Club.
The belief that it was always wanted, but required someone dedicated to drive the night, has weighed heavy on the new committees mind as the success of the venue began to take shape.
The mantra that “the more people that are involved the more likely it is to succeed” still rings true. The Pump now has a vibrant array of door staff, sound engineers, lighting engineers, poster designers, photographers and a whole wealth of musicians on our stage.
But there was still one thing missing, the traditional Friday night floor space club show.
During these past 5 years we’ve met so many incredible people and brought so many of them with us so it with pure delight that Matt Cook and Simon Taylor have chosen to take up the mantel, and stand up to be counted. They have put their money where their mouth is and kick started the brand new, Friday Acoustic Club.
Run in a traditional way, where musicians need to register their intent to perform in advance or walk up and chance their luck, with a guest headliner at the top.
The second show will be headlined by Bath’s WINGS AND WHISPERS who will present a night of folk music inspired by the natural world… and a little bit of magic. Join the harp, voice, whistle and guitar for a journey through folk music from across the UK and America.
