Artificial intelligence is being developed and implemented at a rapid pace. While the technology can assist us in multiple ways, it also raises important questions surrounding the systems' inherent biases and privacy concerns.
Join us for a night at Verdensteatret for a free movie screening of "Coded Bias": an award-winning documentary which investigates the bias in AI algorithms after M.I.T. Media Lab researcher Joy Buolamwini uncovered flaws in facial recognition technology.
The screening will be followed by a 40-minute panel discussion between AI, law and cybersecurity experts from UiT The Arctic University of Norway. The panel consists of the following:
Kristoffer Wickstrøm, Associate Professor at SFI Visual Intelligence
Elisavet Kozyri, Associate Professor at UiT's Cyber Security Group
Youssef Waly, PhD Candidate at UiT and SFF Integreat
Artem Galushko, Postdoctoral Researcher at UiT's Crime Control and Security Law group
Elisabeth Wetzer, Associate Professor at SFI Visual Intelligence (Moderator)
The entire event is free to enter and open to everyone interested. The event will be held in English.
The event is organized by the UiT Machine Learning Group and SFI Visual Intelligence at UiT The Arctic University of Norway as part of Forskningsdagene / Research Days 2025
